Course Description:
Hannah Sandoval has spent a decade as a full-time freelance ghostwriter and editor, specializing in fantasy novels, through her business, PurpleInkPen. The income she makes helping clients create the manuscripts of their dreams supported a family of three through the pandemic. Freelancing in the book industry, even fiction, is a viable career that is sadly talked about very little.
In this talk, Hannah will walk you through the nature of book ghostwriting and tangible first steps to get you started writing for a living as your own boss. There will be a Q&A section of the presentation where you can ask any burning questions you have about the industry.
About the teacher:
Hannah Sandoval is a freelance ghostwriter and editor for individuals, small presses, and book packagers. She started her freelance business, PurpleInkPen, straight out of college, refusing to settle for a job where writing was only one small piece of her work. Over the last ten years, she has worked on over a hundred manuscripts, primarily fantasy novels. Her own YA fantasy, Arcamira (2020), was originally drafted at age fourteen and then, after several revisions, published by Cosmic Egg Books after a stint as an awarded subscriber-favorite on the serialized literature site Channillo. Previous clients have earned traditional publishing deals, five-star self-publishing success, and interest from movie and TV producers. Her passions lie in fantasy, mystery, and horror fiction. She loves Disney movies just as much as she adores Stephen King’s entire body of work. A contradiction? She thinks not.
