Join us March 10th for our Monthly Meeting!

We’ve got a special line-up for our next meeting on Tuesday, March 1oth at 6PM — a panel discussion on how to succeed in a critique group, presented by the Ft. Oglethorpe Writers Group!

We hope you’ll join us, and bring a friend! March is our membership drive month, and we appreciate anything you can do to help other local writers find the guild.

The Ft. Oglethorpe Writers Group began in the summer of 2011 as a critique group affiliated with the Chattanooga Writers Guild. Long-time leader of the group, Barbara Tucker, describes their experience best:

“[The group] is still going strong after almost fifteen years despite illnesses, moves, and the passing of members and several relocations of meeting places. Our strengths lie in commitment to the writing process and each other as well as faithfulness to our founding processes and values. We have seen several novels, memoirs, and chapbooks published as well as shorter pieces in magazines.

On March 10, several members of the group will present a  panel discussion about the group’s beginning, protocols, values, and successes in writing fiction, poetry, and creative nonfiction. After each member addresses a core question, we will open the floor to questions. Our ultimate goal is to share our experience as a ‘successful group,’ where ‘successful’ means we build community, encourage progress toward publication, and improve everyone’s writing.”
