We are open to submissions of Non-Fiction with the theme of Land(ing). Writers are invited to interpret that as loosely or closely as they wish. Deadline to submit is June 30, 2024, with a 1,500 word limit.
Submitting to the Chattanooga Monthly Contest Series is a great way to showcase your work, gain recognition, and get published. Here are some tips to improve your chances:
- Join the Chattanooga Writers Guild and get involved in a critique group: Getting feedback is a great way to improve your writing skills and find encouragement.
- Read the guidelines: Be sure to carefully review the guidelines. This ensures your submission is not rejected before the content is even read.
- Choose the right contest: Select a contest that aligns with your writing style and the genre you write in. The CWG Monthly Contest Series rotates between poetry, fiction, and creative nonfiction.
- Start early: Don’t wait until the last minute to submit your entry. Give yourself plenty of time to draft, revise, have your piece critiqued, and revise and proofread. Also, be sure to check grammar and spelling.
