Needed: A President

Our September elections are just around the corner! Do you have ideas for events or programs for the Guild? Would you like to work closely with other writers to enhance our community? Why not consider running for President?

As President, you would be responsible for planning Board meetings and organizing an agenda with input from your fellow Board members. You would answer emails and be the Point of Contact for our community and Guild members. You would also welcome attendees and speakers at our Monthly Meetings.

If you are considering running for President, please note that you do not have to be a famous author, or well-connected in the literary community, or a long-time member of the CWG. You should, however:

  • Be willing and able to attend monthly Board meetings
  • Expect to spend a few hours a week responding to emails, planning and working on CWG commitments, scheduling social media posts, etc.
  • Be a good listener and supporter of your fellow Board members
  • Be organized
  • Love writing and be excited to continue to help our community thrive!

All current Board members are committed to either another year of service, or are staying on as “consultants” through October to ease the transition. Read more about the Presidential duties in our by-laws HERE.

The Chattanooga Writers’ Guild is a 501(c)3 and as such needs to fill all officer positions every year in order to continue to exist as a non-profit organization. Please let us know if you are interested in joining the Board in September by using our contact form HERE.
