Barbara G. Tucker is an educator, novelist, and playwright living in Northwest Georgia. She hails from Maryland and has family in Virginia and the Carolinas. She has taught college students for 45 years and still loves it. Her fiction centers on the family and the emotions they bring and on ordinary people living in extraordinary circumstances. She has a husband, son, and daughter-in-law and two dogs, Nala and Butter. She is available for speaking engagements. Sudden Future is her eighth novel.
Her topic will be: 5 tips for dialogue
Writing dialogue depends on listening, understanding why we communicate as humans, and moving the story forward through tension.

S.M. Kirkland is an award-winning journalist with more than 30 years’ experience covering politics, education, and crime, but her heart has always loved fiction. She has published three novels, ranging from Christian military fiction to space opera, and now to drama. She holds a bachelor’s degree in English from the University of North Georgia, the Senior Military College of Georgia, and in Communication Disorders from Utah State University.
Her topic will be: Lunchtime novelist- Using those short bits of time to write. This presentation talks about writing when your schedule is packed with careers, children and all that other stuff with practical tips for getting the words on paper.

Our meetings are held in the large conference room on the 5th floor of the Edney Innovation Building, 1100 Market Street. The Edney locks its doors at 6:30, so please do not be late.
