Join us for James Baldwin Festival of Words

The weekend of August 25 – 27, 2023 marks the first year of this 3-day annual event showcasing Black excellence in literary arts in our city, organized by the Chattanooga Festival of Black Arts & Ideas and Rhyme N Chatt Interactive Poetry Organization. The CWG will be a sponsor and we would love for our members to help support in their own way, as well.

From now until August 13th, the CWG will be accepting sponsorship donations from its members. If you would like to contribute, please visit our website and you’ll notice a new Donate option on the homepage. Be sure to leave us a message so we’ll know what the donation is for!

RNC is also accepting books written by Black authors to be given away as door prizes at the Festival. If you have books that fit this criteria, please notify RNC President Marsha Mills at rncpoetry@gmail.com.

The Festival begins on Friday with a Sip & Paint Open-Mic, continues Saturday with a workshop, panel discussion, and marketplace, and concludes Sunday with a Shades of Poetry Showcase. Find more details about the events HERE.

If you would like to be more involved with this Festival, register to become a volunteer, performer, or vendor HERE.
And while the event is free to attend, it’s helpful to the organizers if people planning to attend register in advance, which you can do HERE.

Don’t forget to mark your calendars. See you there!
