June Monthly Meeting to feature Connie Green

Join us Tuesday, June 14th at 6:00 PM Eastern for a Zoom presentation with poet and author Connie Green. This will be a fully-online meeting, with introductions starting at 5:55, and wrapping up around 7:00 PM.

“Making the Abstract Concrete: Reaching the Reader Through the Magic of Detail.”
The June meeting will consist of exercises in finding concrete images that convey an abstract idea (such as love, despair, sorrow, gratitude, etc.), looking at examples of how other poets and prose writers use concrete objects as detail to convey abstract ideas, doing one or more writing exercises, and discussing the use of detail in our writing.

Connie Jordan Green is the author of novels for young people (The War at Home and Emmy, published by Margaret K. McElderry imprint of Macmillan and Simon Schuster, respectively, both reprinted by Tellico Books of Iris Publishing), poetry chapbooks (Slow Children Playing and Regret Comes to Tea, published by Finishing Line Press), and full-length poetry collections (Household Inventory, winner of the Brick Road Poetry Prize, and Darwin’s Breath, published by Iris Press). Her poetry has been nominated for Pushcart prizes. From a small farm in East Tennessee, she enjoys writing, swimming, gardening, baking bread, reading, leading writing workshops, and spending time with family and friends.

You won’t want to miss this! Our Monthly Meetings are free and open to the public.
