Our Workshop on Memoir is just a week away!

A Spring Trio: Writing Your Life in Three Parts by award-winning author Sonja Livingston will be Saturday, March 26th from 11 AM – 1 PM Eastern. While Sonja will be joining us virtually, registrants will have the option to meet in-person at The Edney Innovation Center on the 5th floor (1100 Market Street), or to meet online via Google Meet.

This 2-hour workshop will help you continue or begin writing your life stories by offering three helpful pieces of craft advice, three literary examples, and three writing prompts. The focus will be on crafting short pieces that offer readers vibrant snapshots of your life. There will be time to write and an opportunity to share your words.

Sonja Livingston is the author of four books of nonfiction, including the memoir Ghostbread which won an AWP Book Prize for Nonfiction and has been widely adopted for classroom use. Sonja’s writing has been honored with a New York State Arts Fellowship, an Iowa Review Award, a VanderMey Nonfiction Prize, as well as grants from Vermont Studio Center and The Deming Fund for Women. Her award-winning essays are widely anthologized, appearing in textbooks on memoir writing and journals such as Salon, LitHub and Brevity. Sonja is an associate professor of creative writing at Virginia Commonwealth University. You can find more information here: Home | Mysite (sonjalivingston.com)

This workshop is $10 for CWG members and $20 for non-members (if you’d like to join the CWG, go HERE.) Once you have finished registering (form below), you will be provided a Zoom link. Come join us and learn how to turn your life’s experiences into stories to share!
