CWG member and critique group leader Kelly Hanwright will read and discuss her memoir, The Locust Years, at 7PM Eastern, followed by Q&A. Copies of The Locust Years will be available for purchase and autographing.
The Locust Years is the poetic memoir of a girl raised by her mother, an untreated paranoid schizophrenic. As a result of having to constantly prepare for battles in both spiritual & physical worlds, Kelly developed complex ptsd (cptsd). She suffered severe anxiety & bouts of depression throughout her teens & young adulthood. Finding her voice saved her life. In writing the story of her healing journey, she stands in solidarity with other trauma victims to break stigma and empower you to find your voice too.
Kelly is a Best-of-the-Net and two-time Pushcart Prize nominee, and her work has appeared in Lady Literary Magazine, Birmingham Arts Journal, SoulLit, Heart of Flesh Literary Journal, American Diversity Report, and more. The Locust Years is available on Amazon, as well as Winder Binder bookstore in Chattanooga and The Mad Raven in Sparta. Check out Kelly’s blog, “Here’s to Sincerity and Truth: There IS Regeneration,” and follow her on Facebook.
