Daniel Smith used his expertise as a retired U.S. Navy Senior Chief Petty Officer, Tennessee State Guard Lt. Colonel, and former executive director of the National Medal of Honor Museum of Military History in Chattanooga to publish four military history reference books.
He later published a heist novel, “The Biltmore’s Mona Lisa" in 2024.
In December 2025 he, along with his wife, Betty Thomas Smith, released a children's book, "Elijah and Mr. Sage Stand Up to School Bullies."
