Member Judith Duvall Presents Poetry Program for Fountain City Book Club

In Knoxville at the September meeting of FCBC, Judith performed dramatic readings of her poems included in Bleeding Hearts, a sampling from the Poetry Workshop of the Knoxville Writers' Guild, published by Tellico Books, 2009. She presented other works from her series of poems about the World War II era and its impact on American families.

CWG member KB Ballentine speaks Saturday, October 10, at noon in Rm. 31 at the Legislative Plaza. The panel is titled "Stone and Light: The Natural World in Verse" and includes poets Ted Olson (from ETSU) and Joan Gelfand (from the Bay area in CA) Please join them as they sign books from 1:30-2:00.

CWG Member Marsha Brantley Wins Knoxville Writers' Guild Fiction First Prize

As the KWG honors the winners of its 2009 writing contests, the winners will read from their entries. The Knoxville Writers Guild's annual literary competitions are open to residents of Tennessee. The 2009 contest winners will receive more than $1,200 in prizes, divided among those who placed highest in four award categories: Fiction, Poetry, Creative Nonfiction, and Young Writers' Poetry. The KWG Award for Fiction is in memory of the late Knoxville author, Leslie Garrett. Marsha Brantley's work is entitled, The Likes of Her.
