CWG April Meeting The next meeting of the Chattanooga Writers Guild will be held Tuesday, April14, 2009, at 7:00 p.m. in the auditorium of the Chattanooga-Hamilton County Bicentennial Library. Guest speaker is Jim Johnston, publisher at Celtic Cat Publishing, an award-winning independent publishing company founded in 1995. This meeting is open to the public. April is poetry month!

Not Too Late to Meet and Hear Your Favorite Southern Writers With awards for students presented on Tuesday night, March 31, the Conference on Southern Literature begins full swing Thursday, April 2, at the Tivoli Theatre on Broad Street. Chattanooga Writers Guild members receive a discount on registration, which includes all events, even the luncheon on Saturday. Nancy K. Pearson to read poems from award-winning book, Two Minutes of Light. When: Saturday, April 4, 7 PM Where: Rock Point Books, 401 Broad Street, Chattanooga, TN Book-signing after the event. Nancy K. Pearson’s first book of poems, Two Minutes of Light, published by Perugia Press in August 2008, won the 2009 L.L. Winship/PEN New England Award. She is a current finalist for a Lambda Literary Award. Her poems appear in journals such as The Iowa Review, Black Warrior Review, Indiana Review, and Hayden’s Ferry Review. Pearson has received numerous awards including two seven-month Stanley Kunitz Endowed Fellowships at The Fine Arts Work Center in Provincetown. Originally from Chattanooga, TN, she now lives on Cape Cod.
