Zinio Puts 100+ Classics Online as E-Books

Zinio wants publishers to know it is open for business — e-book business, that is. The online publishing, distribution and retail-services company has launched a series of classics in e-book format at http://email.publishersweekly.com/cgi-bin2/DM/y/j4un0H4mRP0OYZ0DZIr0Em. There are more than 100 books available and they are free for anyone to read. Of course, copies of Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and The Three Musketeers have been available free on the Internet for years; so why is Zinio touting its new line? The company "wanted to showcase the most impressive on-screen reading experience while maintaining the integrity and feel of the old classics," said CEO Rich Maggiotto. Zinio currently partners with Hearst, IDG, Hachette Filipacchi, McGraw-Hill, Primedia, Ziff Davis and other media companies, and is seeking to expand its partnerships to more book publishers.

Book of Devotions
A book of daily devotions written by writers for writers aims to challenge and inspire each of us to fire up our computers early and often in pursuit of excellence in our craft.
Daily Devotions for Writers is the brain child of veteran freelancer Patricia Lorenz, who donated her editing skills to benefit The Writing Academy, a non-profit foundation begun by New York Times bestselling author Cec Murphey to develop and encourage beginning and seasoned writers. Over 200 writers, some of them from the Chattanooga Writers Guild, have donated stories sharing the motivation that helps them overcome obstacles and keep the creative juices flowing. Publishing costs for this project were underwritten by a generous financial contribution from Mr. Murphey.

To reserve your copy of this encouraging book and support this worthy cause, call CWG member Marcia Swearingen at 842-6477 or email her at mswearingen@comcast.net by May 1. The retail cost is $19.95 per copy, but if we order 20 or more, each of us will receive a 40% discount which reduces the cost to $11.97 per copy along with free shipping and handling. These books will also make excellent gifts for your writing friends.
